Below are some sounds created or modified using Sample Wrench. We have been purposely vague regarding the parameters we used on the functions and effects. We don't want anyone to get the impression that the values we used were somehow magic or superior. Their are an infinite number ways of modifying audio, limited only by your taste and imagination.
You can audition each sound directly with your browser (assuming it accepts .wav files), or you can download these sounds in zip format for later investigation.
Download OneRRRF.zip (27 k)
OneRRRF.wav was created from the single spoken word "One". It was reversed, reverb was added, and then reversed again. This creates the leading swell. Finally, some flanging was added to create a more complex flavor.
Download OneWC.zip (19 k)
OneWC.wav was created from the single spoken word "One". First Spectral Warping was applied to sweep the pitch and formants. This was followed by Chorusing to give the sound some depth.
Download OneFRER.zip (25 k)
OneFRER.wav was created from the single spoken word "One". FM was applied to create a synthesized effect. The sound was reversed, Echo was added and the sound reversed again to achieve a growing or lead-in quality.
Download OneXRGA.zip (12 k)
OneXRGA.wav was created from a small portion of the sample OneFRER.wav. A segment of this portion was then replicated to create the sustaining part. The Envelope Generator was used to tailor the sound and finally, some AM was added for a little more interest by changing the tonal character.
Download Noise2GRQ.zip (28 k)
Noise2GRQ.wav was created from the Generate function. Two noise bursts were created. The first was left pretty much as it was while the second was heavily filtered to get the bottom end. These were combined and then shaped using the Envelope Generator. Some Reverb and spot low pass Filtering give the final touches.
